Definitely nailed the look, but also the mechanics, of a truly retro metroid-like video game from the 8-bit (or less) era. It even has certain parallels to 'Captain Comic' I'm sure aren't unintentional.

A phenomenal retro game. It is more a classic platformer with guns than a Metroidvania. If you are more interested in the latter, take that into consideration. It is true that there are upgrades and a map but it is really simple and straightforward.
