I loved Axiom Verge (AV1), as it really felt like a 2D Metroid game - a true spiritual successor.
Unfortunately Axiom Verge 2 (AV2) falls short of AV1 in my opinion and I'm not sure if call it a Metroidvania. I wish I could give it a middling review.
